2017年12月开工的墨尔本地铁隧道预计于2025年完工。地铁隧道是自30年前修建城市环线以来，对墨尔本CBD铁路运力的最大投资，总预算为$12.58亿。地铁隧道将打造一条从Sunbury到Cranbourne/Pakenham的新铁路线，在Arden、Parkville、州立图书馆（CBD北）、市政厅（CBD南）和Anzac（Domain）设立五个新地下车站。
